Ratanang marches against nyaope

Ratanang after reaching the destination of the march.

KwaThema – The Ratanang organisation marched on July 28 from Holiness Church in Majola Street to Duduza Rank to show they are against the increasing rate of nyaope in the community.

The march was escorted by the KwaThema SAPS, emergency services together with the local pastors.

The march was aimed at praying for those struggling with addiction to nyaope and to establish a network between them and the organisation.

The founder of the organisation, Nomvula Sibanyoni, says the organisation is planning to host monthly sessions with those addicted to nyaope in order to engage with them on their struggles while finding solutions to help them recover from the addiction.

This will be achieved by involving the recovering addicts in community projects such as cleaning the community. This will help keep them busy so that they do not end up relapsing.

“We want to get them busy because they have a lot of time on their hands,” says Sibanyoni.

The organisation also plans to start being actively involved in making sure that the community is clean.

“We want to change where we live, not to just look for sponsors.”

Sibanyoni urges the local pastors to render more support as they work towards hosting these monthly engagements to pray and bond with those addicted to nyaope.
