Social club donates coal to keep elders warm

Izinduku Social Club donated bags of coal to the elders from Umdeni Fellowship.

Tsakane – Izinduku Social Club donated bags of coal to the elders from Umdeni Fellowship over the weekend.

This was part of their annual social responsibility campaign to help those who are less fortunate.

Social club member Dannyboy Nkosi says they decided to approach the church to see how they could help.

“We identified that many people in the community were donating blankets and food parcels to the needy.

“We decided to identify some of their needs and felt that many of the elders use coal to keep warm, especially in winter.

“We bought 23 bags of coal for all the elderly members of the church and helped clean the facility,” he says.

Another member, Prince Kope, says they started the initiative in 2016, but their main focus was on donating school uniforms and renovating school premises.

“This year we decided to focus our attention on the elders.

“We saw it fit to donate the coal because it is one of their basic needs, and the prices have gone up so they can barely afford it, especially this winter.

“Our main focus is on improving and contributing towards the betterment of the lives of children and elders.

“These are the fragile members of the community who need us to take care of them,” he says.
