Duduza – Two men and a woman, aged between 18 and 38, were arrested on a charge of murder on Saturday.
The arrests took place after a man who was admitted to Pholosong Hospital died, allegedly after being assaulted during an incident of mob justice.
Duduza Police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka says it is alleged the 35-year-old man was assaulted by an angry mob in Phumla Mqashi Section.
“The three were traced and arrested by the police and are expected to appear in court.”
Station commander Lt Col Bheki Mhlungu is appealing to community members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
“We should always remember that two wrongs don’t make a right.
“We are urging the residents to report any criminal activities to the police and allow justice to take its course.
“Suspects should be handed over to the police,” he says.
Meanwhile, six people were arrested for possession of dagga and another two for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
“The arrests came during a crime prevention operation,” he says.
Manaka adds that another three people were arrested, one for assault, one for burglary and one for theft, bringing the total number of arrests over the weekend to 14.
