Parkrun launch successful as participants come out in numbers

KwaThema- The launch of KwaThema’s first parkrun was successful with over 200 people who participated on Saturday morning.

The run will continue to be hosted in Bulithando Park every Saturday at 8am.

However, the participants are encouraged to arrive at 7am for registration.

The run is a two-lap run around the park and caters to people of different age groups.

Mzimkhulu Ngobeni from KwaThema Striders encourages young people from the age of 10, as well as older people above the age of 40, to participate in the run.

Ngobeni says on Saturday they had different age groups. Those who could not run walked and everyone completed the run at their own pace.

The aim of the run is to create a culture of living a healthy lifestyle and reducing the number of health-related diseases.
