KwaThema – Ace Auto Ayoba Football Club celebrated their 10th anniversary in a certificate award ceremony at KwaThema Community Hall on Saturday.
The event was held to celebrate and honour young players and local business people who continue to support the team whenever there is a need to provide help.
Team founder and coach Innocent Mayoyo said it was befitting to host the event to celebrate the achievement of young players.
“We have issued 300 certificates in different categories, and mainly to 75 newly accepted players in all age groups.
“We have also issued certificates to long serving players who will advance to the new age group next year.
“The goalkeeper of the year title was awarded to Katlego Mahlaba. Katlego Yende was awarded with the most promising goalkeeper of the year award.
“The award for the overall player of the year went to Siyabonga Vilakazi who showed consistency and discipline during the season. He was also consistent on the pitch,” said Mayoyo.
The coach said he was happy that the team had enjoyed success, and that some players had travelled overseas to attend workshops and tournaments with the support of local business people.
“We are calling on parents to encourage their children to participate in sports.
“It doesn’t help to have naturally talented young people who are not given an opportunities to become better sportsmen.
“They must join their peers to be groomed by skilled coaches,” said Mayoyo.
