Duduza – During an awareness campaign held at Sead Clinic in Masechaba Section, residents of Duduza were asked to look after their children, especially when they are playing outside with other children.
Duduza SAPS teamed up with the Youth Crime Prevention Desk to help raise awareness to encourage the community to report any missing child immediately.
The campaign was held under the theme “Child Minding is Child Protection” following the kidnapping and death of Bokamoso Tsotetsi whose body was found in Spaarwater Dam last weekend.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka says they handed out pamphlets with tips and hints to 127 people who were in attendance.
“The police stressed to parents that they should not wait for 24 hours to pass before they report a case of a missing person.
“When they report the case they must have a clear picture of the missing person.
“Parents are discouraged from leaving their young children in the care of other children. This makes it easy for criminals to prey on the children.
“This initiative was another way to ensure that the community feels and is save,” he says.
The police continued with the campaign in different hotspots in the area which included Sonto Thobela Clinic in Bluegumview as well as the Sassa offices in Nala Street.
