It is believed the perpetrators of this vicious attack had robbed the siblings’ mother of her cellphone only hours before.
According to Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora, the 42-year-old mother of two was approached by three men while walking along Qibi Street in Gugulethu/Everest, at around 5.30am on Sunday.
Ramphora says the men threatened to kill her.
“She begged them not to kill her and promised to give them anything they wanted from her home,” says Ramphora.
The woman took the robbers to her home, where they took a cellphone and then fled the scene.
It is alleged the same men returned to the woman’s home the following day at around 2am.
Ramphora say the men kicked down the door to gain entry into the shack.
“The woman was at work and only her two children were at home,” he says.
The men demanded cash from the 17-year-old boy and his 14-year-old sister.
After the children failed to give them cash, the three men made the boy watch as they raped his sister.
No arrests have been made and a case of house robbery and rape is being investigated by Springs police.
