Thugs break into home

KwaThema police spokesman Captain Thabo Sibuyi says the 43-year-old complainant was woken up by a bang on the door.

“This prompted her to try calling her landlord but the phone went to voicemail.

“The banging on her door stopped for a short while but to her surprise it began again.

“She then attempted to call the police; however, she was unsuccessful as the duo managed to break down the door and rushed to take her cellphone,” he says.

Sibuyi says that the pair demanded money as though they were people who knew she had some.

“When she resisted, the one man with the firearm fired a shot outside, and another inside the room, damaging her TV.

“Scared, the woman took out the R6 000 from where she had hidden it and gave it the men,” he says.

Sibuyi says they also took her two handbags, which contained the woman’s passport, ID and bank cards and fled the scene.
