KwaThema – A 27-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and robbed while walking along Moshoeshoe Street, in KwaThema Central in the early hours of last Saturday.

It is alleged the complainant was approached by two unknown men during his walk.

Suspects then allegedly grabbed him by force and searched him, took his cell phone and R100 cash.

KwaThema police spokesman, Capt Thabo Sibuyi says it is alleged by the victim the duo went on to assault him with a beer bottle on his face then fled on foot.

“Police are investigating a robbery with a weapon or instrument other than a firearm.

“We are warning locals to avoid walking alone especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning as this makes them easy targets for criminals.

“The public should try to avoid the following hot spots, which include the area close to the Customer Care Centre, KwaThema Clinic and near the Nkabinde Primary School,” he says.
