KwaThema – A 20-year-old man was allegedly attacked and assaulted by two unknown men while walking along Thema Road near an open field by Ntokozweni Primary School.

It is alleged the youngster was approached by two men from behind.

KwaThema police spokesperson, Captain Thabo Sibuyi, says the complainant explained how one of the men asked him for matches which he didn’t have.

“A few moments later, one of the men then allegedly tripped him and he fell to the ground.

“The suspect then took a brick and assaulted him. The suspect injured the victim’s hand.

“The accomplice of the suspect went on to assault the complainant with a stick and injured the victim’s head.

“They then searched the victim and a R100 note was taken from his pocket.

“The assault continued with stones; however, the victim finally managed to stand up and run away.

“The suspects managed to get away. They took the victim’s plastic bag which contained a pair of trousers, jacket and a DVD player.”

Sibuyi urges locals to avoid walking alone particularly late at night and early in the morning because they become easy targets for criminals.
