Duduza – A silver Isuzu double-cab bakkie was hijacked in Masechaba section on Saturday after the vehicle’s owner was lured to a house on false pretenses.

It is alleged the owner, who runs a construction business, received a call from a woman claiming to be an interested customer who said she wanted to meet with him about the construction of a house.

Duduza police spokesperson, Sgt Harry Manaka, says the man and his business partner picked the woman up in Extension 15 and drove with her to what she called her residence in Masechaba.

“Arriving at the house, the woman asked that she go in first to inform her parents that she had brought the builder.

“While sitting in the vehicle, the owner was surprised by two unknown males who were armed with firearms,” Manaka says.

“Before he could move, a shot was fired and they were both forced out of the motor vehicle.

“The two men demanded their cellphones and then fired another shot, then they made a U-turn and drove into one of the neighbours’ fence.

“Just before they could drive away the same female who went into the yard also came out running and got into the vehicle and drove away.”

Manaka says the owner of the house said they had never seen the woman before.

“The vehicle had a tracker and was recovered in Germiston,” he says.

“No one has been arrested this far.”
