Duduza high schools achieve better pass rates

Duduza – High schools in Duduza produced a stunning lead with an 81 per cent average, better than both KwaThema and Tsakane.

MOM Sebone Secondary School made a huge improvement from 2016’s 66.5 per cent. The school achieved the best pass rate in Duduza for 2017, coming in at 89 per cent.

Coming in close second is Asser Maloka Secondary School with an 86.5 per cent pass rate. The school has seen an increase from 2016’s 78 per cent final result.

Of the 126 learners who sat for the exams, they achieved 27 bachelor, 55 national diploma and 27 higher certificate passes.

“We are very pleased with the results because our target was 87 per cent.

We put in a lot of effort and it shows,” says deputy principal Vhutshilo Makungo.

Esibonelwesihle Secondary School has made a remarkable recovery from 2016’s pass rate of 57.55 per cent. The school came in at 81 per cent.

NN Ndebele Secondary School achieved a 77 per cent pass rate. This is a notable increase from the previous year’s 73.15 per cent.

“The improvement from 2016 is great.

And our learners obtained 47 distinctions overall – that is more than the other schools,” says acting principal Billy Mashiyane.

Tandi Sibeko Secondary School also achieved better results than in 2016.

The school came in at a 70.1 per cent pass rate, an increase of almost 10 per cent from the previous year.

“Although we have improved, we were aiming for a 80 per cent pass rate for #classof2017.

We will continue to concentrate our efforts until we get the desired results,” says principal Mandla Moaphudi.
