More learners receive school shoes in KwaThema

Learners at Amos Maphanga Secondary School received school shoe donations from Kutlwano Social Organisation.

KwaThema – Thirty-six learners from Amos Maphanga Secondary School received a school donation from Kutlwano Social Organisation.

This was the sixth donation by the organisation this year within a period of six months.

The organisation’s secretary, Sandile Roro, says they are happy they were able to reach more schools and learners this year.

“We also recently made a donation to Emaphupheni Secondary School in Daveyton.

“We collected shoes from community members and business people in the area, and the teachers helped in identifying the learners who are in need of a new pair of school shoes.

“The all-men group, formed 21 years ago, is aimed at making a difference in a learner’s life and alleviating poverty.”

Sandile says they understand that many learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds and informal settlements.

“This should not be a reason for the learners to abstain from going to school and feel unequal in class.

“We want to make their journey to school bearable,” he says.

Alex Kunene, the chairperson of Kutlwano Social Organisation, says they are urging the residents to join their team to improve the lives of the needy.

“We can all make a difference if we work together. The children are the future of the community and country.

“We cannot turn a blind eye when we can each donate a pair of unisex school shoes.

“We will be able to reach more learners and make a bigger difference if we all join the fight,” he says.
